We're always going to have bad calls.  Just part of human error.

I am not talking about calls on boundaries or possession.  NFL replay fixes most of those. My only complaint there is that they should use the college system and forget putting the ref under the hood for his smoke break.

I am talking about judgment calls that are not reviewable such as the calls for unsportsmanlike conduct, excessive celebration or roughing.
The refs are just plain wrong on too many of these.

As bad as it may seem in the NFL I think it's better than the umpiring in MLB. Now they are awful.

I agree but MLB is a joke.  I cannot watch it.   Even my beloved Cubs.   The game is slow. The season is too long.  It is more boring than C-Span.

Speaking of freedom of speech, LJ unwittingly brought himself into the spotlight when he made a gay slur at coach Haley over the weekend.  Personally, I don't think the league was upset directly to his slur remark, I think the league is still hot for his irratic off-field behaivor.  LJ is a great player; just one dumb brute.

His office field behavior has much improved and was never as bad as the pub.  He had 3 incidents with females and two of the three including the last were totally ridiculous.  No guns. No DUIs.  No dead bodies or bullet wounds.

He is very frustrated this year.  The Chiefs are terrible - probably worse than a year ago.  Haley in way over his head and is trying to be Head Coach, offensive coordinator and bad guy and failing at two of the three.  I cannot believe any of the players respect him.  His play calling is pathetic. The offensive line couldn't succeed in high school so LJ gets one hole every two games.  Matt Cassel is a mere shadow of his 2008 self without the Pats around him and Bellichek on the sideline.

Other players are upset but they are cowered by Haley.
LJ actually made two remarks that were labeled gay smears. One is basically a fact (a reference to Christopher Street in NYC) and the second was a rebuke to a reporter.

The Chiefs responded from telling him to stay away for their practice facility during a bye week.  Rumors are heavy that they will release him.  There are other factors.  He is less than 100 yards from becoming the Chief's all-time leading rusher.   If he does that he will have to be included in the Ring of Honor at Arrowhead which is a huge deal in KC.  And the media doesn't like him.  They think all players should be there first for interviews and they come across like boy scouts.

If /when KC releases LJ, some team will pick him up and with a little blocking he will be productive.   If he ends up playing for Denver or Oakland it will be really bad for KC fans but they deserve what they get.   They moan more than a slut in a porno flick.

Speaking of latex, how about dem Bears, Browns, and Fins, Ced?  They are off to a wonderful losing streaks are they?

Speaking of streak, how about the Saints this year?  Reggie Bush is as good as they advertised him.

The Bears won last weekend Abs. (they beat the Browns!)

And the Fins beat the Jets and swept the season series.

At least the Browns got rid of their GM. Of course they are still paying his predecessor for 4 more years.  Mangini is about as bad as the Chiefs rookie Todd "Hail me a cab so I can fly back to Phoenix" Haley.

And what about the Broncos losing streak?

The surprising skid is the NY Giants.  Eli is hurting but the whole team looks suddenly old.

The Saints are very good.   Brees is great.   and Peyton keeps his Colts winning.

I like the Yankees in the Super Bowl by 3.

The Saints appear to have their best team ever in their mostly sorry history.  Reggie Bush is only one of many valuable contributors on offense and special teams, but Drew Brees is the MVP.  Pierre Thomas is their best running back.  How about Darren Sharper on defense?  He has seven interceptions in seven games and returned three (if I recall correctly what they said on MNF) for touchdowns.

I'm really surprised by how the Giants are struggling since that loss to the Saints.

I think it'll be either Brett Favre or the Saints in the Super Bowl against either the Master's Broncos or (more likely) the Colts.

Do you think the Yankees will be facing the Ducks or the Tar Heels in the Super Bowl?

Florida coach Urban Meyer was the first coached to be fined under the SEC's new policy "try not to see but even if you do don't tell" designed to try to shield incompetent officials from negative comments by coaches.

So even though the missed call was so egregious that Meyer sent a tape to the SEC office to review, the coach was fined for mentionning the error to reporters most of whom knew of the mistake because, unlike the unidentified offending official, they saw the game!

Very logical.  Sports executives in conferences and league offices are absolutely brilliant.   They got so smart because they are the only people in the industrialized world who don't watch sports on television so they even though they approved it, they don't realize that with instant replay and tape replays of virtually every down, the public already knows about blown calls.

Just because the beat up (and down) on Denver and the Broncos left the field in tears?

I am unable to really grasp the reasoning behind these rules.Officials, like players, are part of the game.We can criticize coaches...players...even fans. But not officials. It makes no sense at all to me.
